quad. – Rental Terms and Conditions

By checking the box at checkout, you agree to the following Rental Terms and Conditions. This agreement is legally binding between Quad Marketplace Co. (“quad”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) and you (“Renter”, “User”).


1. Payment and Authorization

  • You agree to pay the full rental fee at the time of booking through quad's secure checkout system.
  • Payment must be made via quad's approved payment methods (credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other listed options).
  • By completing payment, you authorize quad to charge your payment method for: rental fees, shipping fees, dry cleaning fees, and any applicable taxes, late fees, or damage fees incurred under these Terms.
  • A pre-authorization hold equal to your rental total plus a $50 buffer (or $100 for items with a retail value of $300 or more) will be placed on your payment method at checkout. This hold is not a charge — it covers potential post-rental costs such as dry cleaning, late fees, or minor damage. The hold is released upon clean completion of your rental. By completing checkout, you authorize this hold.


2. Rental Period and Return Requirements

  • Your return deadline will be confirmed in your order confirmation. Please read it carefully — deadlines differ depending on whether your rental is shipped or in-store.
  • Shipped rentals: A prepaid return label is included in your package. You must drop the item off with the carrier and have it scanned the day after your event ends. If your event is Friday, your return must be shipped Saturday. If your event is Saturday, your return must be shipped Sunday. Dropping off without a scan does not count — the carrier scan timestamp is your proof of return.
  • In-store rentals: Please return your item as soon as your event is over. In-store returns are due no later than Monday by 5 PM following your event weekend. Returns received after 5 PM Monday will be subject to late fees regardless of circumstance, so we encourage you to return early if at all possible.
  • Failure to meet your return deadline will result in: a $15 late fee on the first overdue day, $5 per additional day thereafter, and continued charges up to the full replacement cost of the item.
  • Items not returned within 7 days of the due date will receive a final overdue notice via email and SMS. Items unreturned after 14 days will be declared lost, and you will be charged the item's replacement value pursuant to Section 3 below.
  • Multi-day rentals are priced at the full base rate for the first day and 50% of the base rate for each additional day. Your checkout total will reflect the full multi-day amount.

3. Item Responsibility After Delivery

Once a rented item has been delivered to your address — whether by carrier, courier, or in-store pickup — you assume full responsibility for it.

  • You are responsible for the item from the moment of delivery or pickup until it is physically received back by quad staff or confirmed received by the carrier on a return shipment.
  • This responsibility includes theft. If an item is stolen from your doorstep, porch, mailroom, or any location after the carrier marks it "delivered," you are responsible for compensating quad and the lender. You will be charged the item's current retail replacement value. quad's obligation is to protect our lenders' property, and that obligation does not end because of a post-delivery theft.
  • If you believe a delivered item was stolen, you should file a police report and submit a copy to quad within 48 hours by emailing support@quadmarketplace.com. While this does not waive the replacement charge, it will be considered in any follow-up review.
  • If an item cannot be replaced at its original retail price (discontinued, limited edition, etc.), quad will determine a fair replacement value based on resale market data, with a floor of 50% of original retail. In all cases, you authorize quad to charge your payment method on file.
  • quad strongly recommends selecting a secure delivery address (e.g., a campus mailroom or quad storefront pickup) and including specific access instructions when booking.


4. Damage, Loss, and Condition

  • You are responsible for the care and safe return of all rented items. Normal wear is expected, but permanent stains, tears, alterations, or significant odor are considered damage.
  • All items are inspected and photographed by quad staff prior to rental. You agree to inspect the item upon receipt and notify quad within 24 hours — by email or SMS — if the item arrives damaged, defective, or not as described. Failure to report within 24 hours constitutes acceptance that the item arrived in satisfactory condition.
  • If an item is damaged, lost, or stolen during your rental period, you authorize quad to charge your payment method up to the item's current retail replacement value.
  • quad's quality assurance team will review intake and return photos before assessing any damage charge. For minor damage under $30, quad may absorb the cost at its discretion. For damage over $30, you will be notified within 24 hours of the return assessment with a photo summary.
  • Any disputes regarding damage will be reviewed by quad's QA team, whose determination — based on timestamped photographic evidence from intake and return — is final.


5. No Alterations or Modifications

Rented items may not be altered, modified, or permanently changed in any way. The following are strictly prohibited: hemming, cutting, sewing pins, fashion tape or any adhesive products, adding embellishments, ironing at high heat, or any other modification. Damage resulting from prohibited alterations will be charged to you at the full repair or replacement cost of the item, whichever is greater.


If you are concerned about fit, quad recommends visiting the storefront before booking to try the item in person, or contacting quad staff for measurements prior to booking.


6. Delivery, Shipping, and Delays

  • For shipped rentals, quad uses third-party carriers (UPS, USPS, etc.). quad monitors outbound shipments and will contact you by email or SMS if a significant delay is detected before your event date.
  • If your item cannot be confirmed as delivered in time for your event, quad will work with you on a resolution, which may include a full refund or an alternative item from storefront inventory where available.
  • When booking a shipped rental to a dorm, apartment, or multi-unit address, you must provide specific delivery instructions (building name, room number, door code, or other access details) at the time of booking. For campus dorm addresses, quad recommends selecting storefront pickup or shipping to a campus mailroom, as carriers may be unable to access individual floors.
  • For same-day deliveries: one delivery attempt is made. If delivery cannot be completed because you are not home, the address is inaccessible, or insufficient instructions were provided, the item will be returned to the quad storefront. You will be notified by SMS and may pick up by closing time. No refund is issued for failed deliveries resulting from renter unavailability or insufficient access information.
  • Carrier holiday schedules affect shipping timelines. If your return date falls near a carrier holiday, quad will notify you by email of any adjusted ship-by dates.


7. Cleaning and Maintenance

  • A dry cleaning fee of $14.50 is added to all shipped and in-store rentals.
  • You must not attempt to wash, dry clean, spot-treat, or otherwise clean a rented item yourself. All cleaning is managed by quad. Unauthorized cleaning that results in damage will be charged to you.
  • Upon receiving your item, you agree to inspect it for odor or cleanliness issues and notify quad within 24 hours by email or SMS. Failure to report within 24 hours constitutes acceptance of the item's condition.

8. In-Store Pickup and Returns

  • For in-store pickup rentals, you must present a valid photo ID and your order confirmation (email or printed) at the time of pickup. quad staff will verify your identity against the booking before releasing any item.
  • Proxy Pickup: If you need someone else to pick up your rental, you must notify quad in advance by email or SMS. Your proxy must present a valid photo ID and a copy of your order confirmation. Unauthorized third-party pickup — where no advance notice has been given — will not be fulfilled.
  • No-Show Policy: If you do not pick up your item by store closing on your rental start date, your item will be held until noon the following day. After that, it returns to available inventory. Your rental fee is non-refundable for no-show pickups — the item was pulled from inventory and held exclusively for you.

9. Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • 24 hours after you have completed your purchase or reservation, we do not accept cancellations.
  • Rental Transfer: As an alternative to cancellation, you may transfer your booking to a friend by contacting quad directly. The recipient must be on the same campus, the same size, and must confirm acceptance before the transfer is finalized. Approved transfers release you from the booking at no cost.
  • Once an item has shipped, the rental is final and non-refundable, except in cases of verified non-delivery, item condition issues reported within 24 hours, or quad-initiated cancellation.
  • quad reserves the right to cancel rentals due to lender unavailability, failed quality inspection, or safety concerns. In such cases, you will receive a full refund or, where applicable, a 110% credit toward a future rental.

10. Account, Trust, and Verification

  • To complete your first rental, you must provide a valid Instagram handle, verify your phone number, and have a valid payment method on file. quad reserves the right to manually review accounts that do not meet minimum verification thresholds before approving a rental.
  • New Renter Limits: On your first rental, the maximum retail value of items you may rent is $400. After one successfully completed rental (returned on time, no issues), this limit increases to $600. After three successful rentals, no cap applies.
  • quad reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts for: unpaid balances, non-return of items, fraudulent activity, off-platform transactions, harassment of lenders or staff, or violations of these Terms.

11. Prohibited Conduct and Platform Integrity

  • Rented items are for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to alter, resell, sublease, lend, or allow any person other than yourself or an authorized proxy (see Section 8) to use a rented item.
  • Off-Platform Transactions: Arranging payment or rental exchanges outside of quad's platform is strictly prohibited. Off-platform transactions are not covered by quad's insurance, photo documentation, cleaning guarantees, or dispute resolution — they leave both you and the lender unprotected. First offense: warning. Second offense: 7-day suspension. Third offense: permanent ban.
  • quad is not liable for injuries, allergic reactions, or any incidental damages resulting from the use of rented items. By renting, you acknowledge and accept the risk of chemical sensitivities related to dry cleaning products. If you have known sensitivities, please notify quad before your rental so alternatives can be explored.

12. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

  • In the event of a dispute, you agree to first contact quad's support team at support@quadmarketplace.com and allow 5 business days for resolution before pursuing any further action.
  • BINDING ARBITRATION: Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or any quad rental shall be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis. YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.
  • Governing Law: This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and quad regarding item rentals and supersede any prior verbal or written agreements. quad reserves the right to update these Terms with notice to active users. Continued use of the platform after notice constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.


14. Consent

By checking the box marked "I agree to the quad Rental Terms and Conditions" at checkout, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms,
  • You agree to be bound by them,
  • You authorize quad to charge your stored payment method for any applicable fees outlined herein, including the pre-authorization hold described in Section 1, and
  • You accept full responsibility for rented items from the moment of delivery or pickup through confirmed receipt by quad.
